BlogEnsure your app works with a managed AI gateway before moving live traffic.

Moving to a managed AI gateway means changing how your application reaches model providers. Begin with the documented endpoint and credentials, then verify the complete request and response behavior. A successful text completion is the first check, not the whole migration.
LLM Gateway
Change models, providers, add fallbacks, and more by running all AI usage through one platform.
List the endpoints, SDK versions, model identifiers and parameters your application uses. Include behavior that a simple demo omits: tool calls, response schemas, image inputs, streamed output, timeouts and cancellation.
Separate required capabilities from conveniences. If a workflow depends on a provider-specific feature, verify explicit support before rewriting the client around a shared API.
Create a dedicated test key and use non-sensitive fixtures. Follow the gateway’s current client documentation for authentication and base URL settings. For Concentrate, start with the relevant SDK integration guide rather than borrowing another gateway’s endpoint or model naming convention.
Preserve your existing configuration so it can be restored. Avoid changing the model and the request route at the same time: otherwise an output difference has two possible causes.
Record the client version, model, provider route and test date. Keep the fixtures so the same checks can be repeated after a gateway or SDK update.
Check whether the SDK already retries failed calls before enabling gateway retries. Multiple retry mechanisms can multiply attempts. Give the application a total deadline and make fallback eligibility explicit.
For an agent that changes files or calls external tools, a timeout does not prove that nothing happened. Inspect the action’s result before repeating it. Migration testing should include this ambiguous outcome, not just obvious errors.
Start with an internal workload, then a limited share of live requests. Define rollback conditions such as a sustained error increase, missing usage records or failed tool execution. Keep the old route usable until the new path passes those checks.
A shared API does not remove migration work. What matters is whether the chosen model, request features and operational controls continue to work after the endpoint changes.
For teams evaluating Concentrate, use its gateway overview to identify the desired controls, then validate them with the application you intend to move.
Concentrate supports managed inference through BAA-covered routes for approved workloads. Before moving PHI, confirm the account configuration, eligible providers, retention and fallback destinations. Use synthetic data for the migration tests until that review is complete.
