Change models, providers, add fallbacks, and more by running all AI usage through one platform.
We’ve spoken with customers spending $5,000–$10,000 per engineer each month on API-backed coding workflows using Claude Code and Codex. At that level, the biggest opportunity is changing which models do the work.
With Concentrate, teams can target a $1,000–$2,000 monthly budget by moving most coding work to open-weight models such as GLM and DeepSeek, while keeping the latest available Claude and OpenAI models accessible for harder tasks. OpenCode makes this approach practical by letting engineers work with models from multiple providers in the same coding tool.
That creates a path from $10,000 to $2,000 a month without giving up frontier models: use lower-cost models for most work, then bring in premium models when they are needed.
A coding tool and the model it calls are separate choices. Claude Code and Codex provide agent workflows, while the underlying model and billing route determine inference costs. An API-backed workflow can keep accumulating token charges as agents read files, run tests and revise code.
The $5,000–$10,000 range comes from our customer conversations about heavy usage. It is not the price of a standard subscription or a claim about every engineer. Switching from premium-only API usage to a mix of open-weight and frontier models changes the economics of that work.
OpenCode with Concentrate is the starting point for teams that want to choose models from multiple providers. Give engineers access to approved GLM and DeepSeek models for everyday work, alongside Claude and OpenAI models for tasks that need them.
Begin with bounded code changes, tests, documentation and familiar repository work on the lower-cost models. Keep frontier models available for difficult debugging, architecture decisions and tasks where the first model gets stuck. Engineers should have a clear way to escalate a task instead of spending hours forcing a cheaper model through it.
Choose the latest models available in Concentrate’s catalog for the capabilities you need. Check tool calling, context handling and editing behavior with the exact model and provider route.
For an engineer currently spending $10,000 a month on premium-model API usage, a target allocation could be:
Moving from $10,000 to $2,000 is an 80% reduction in inference spend. The allocation is a target, not a fixed-price plan or a guarantee that every workload will achieve the same savings. Teams starting at $5,000–$10,000 can design toward $1,000–$2,000 based on their model mix, task volume and need for frontier models. Separately billed coding subscriptions and other charges remain additional.
Yes. Teams can keep supported Claude Code workflows and use Concentrate’s integration for API access and budgets. Concentrate also documents compatibility with non-Claude models, but Anthropic does not support non-Claude models in Claude Code. Those combinations need integration-specific testing.
For a workflow deliberately built around multiple model providers, OpenCode is our preferred starting point. Switching tools does not transfer a Claude or Codex subscription’s included usage into Concentrate. API traffic is billed through its configured API account.
Give each employee or workload an identifiable key. Use Concentrate token allocation and key spend limits to assign budgets, with separate routine and premium allowances where appropriate. Set alerts before those ceilings are reached.
Reduce unnecessary context and repeated retries as well. A cheaper model that needs many more attempts can erase the expected saving. Compare completed repository tasks, including premium-model escalations, before expanding the approach across the team.
Talk to Concentrate about moving from a $5,000–$10,000 monthly coding bill toward a $1,000–$2,000 model budget. Bring your current model mix and coding workflow. We can help you plan open-weight models for most work while keeping frontier models within reach.
